Terms of service

The Lisbon Tile Project (thelisbontileproject.com) is run by Lowther & Lowther, Lda, Rua da Esperança 3, Junceira, 3100-657 Santiago de Litém, Portugal, company and VAT number PT518762793, email tinyjoymadetiles@gmail.com ("we", "us"). These terms apply to every order placed on this website. By placing an order you agree to them.

1. What we make

We turn a photo you upload into a design and UV print it onto a ceramic tile in our studio in Portugal. The tiles are decorative and for indoor use. They are not made for outdoor use, for food or drink, for dishwashers or ovens, or for installing as wall or floor tiling.

2. Your design and the preview

Our design tool uses artificial intelligence to restyle your photo, so every result is unique and two runs of the same photo will not look identical. The preview on screen shows how your tile will look, but colours can look slightly different on the printed tile than on your screen, and small details from your photo may be simplified or changed by the style you choose. Please check your preview carefully before ordering, including any faces, names or text. We print the design you chose and do not send a separate proof.

3. Your photos

By uploading a photo you confirm that you took it or have permission to use it, and that it does not break anyone's copyright, trademark or privacy, and is not offensive or illegal. You keep all rights to your photo. You give us permission to use it only to make your design, print your order and give you customer support. We will not use your photo or design in our marketing without asking you first. We may refuse or cancel any order that we believe breaks these rules, and refund you in full.

4. Prices and payment

Prices are in euros and include Portuguese VAT where it applies. Shipping is added at checkout. For orders shipped outside the European Union, local import duties or taxes may apply as described in our Shipping policy. Payment is taken in full at checkout through Shopify's secure payment system. We do not see or store your card details.

5. Making and shipping

Each tile is made to order after payment. Making times, shipping options and delivery times are set out in our Shipping policy.

6. Cancellations, returns and refunds

Because every tile is personalised to your photo, the 14-day right of withdrawal under EU consumer law does not apply (Portuguese Decree-Law 24/2014, article 17). You can cancel free of charge until we start printing your order. If your tile arrives damaged or faulty, we will replace it or refund you, as described in our Return and refund policy. This does not affect your legal rights as a consumer.

7. Our responsibility

Nothing in these terms limits our responsibility where the law does not allow it to be limited. Otherwise, our responsibility for any order is limited to the price you paid for it, and we are not responsible for losses that were not foreseeable when you placed your order.

8. Your personal data

We handle your personal data as described in our Privacy policy. Photos and designs for orders that are not paid are deleted automatically after 30 days.

9. Complaints and disputes

If something is wrong, please email us first at tinyjoymadetiles@gmail.com and we will do our best to put it right. You can also use the Portuguese complaints book (Livro de Reclamações) at www.livroreclamacoes.pt. For consumer disputes you may contact CNIACC, Centro Nacional de Informação e Arbitragem de Conflitos de Consumo (www.cniacc.pt).

10. Law

These terms are governed by Portuguese law. If you are a consumer living in another country, you also keep the protection of the consumer laws of your own country.

11. Changes

We may update these terms from time to time. The version shown on this website when you place your order is the one that applies to that order.
